Aligners are an attractive alternative to traditional metal braces. They’re a series of clear, custom-fit removable mouth trays that apply a controlled amount of force to your teeth to slowly straighten them. They provide the same beautiful results as traditional braces while being virtually invisible.
What to Expect When Getting Aligners
When you come to us for aligners, we’ll scan your mouth to design your trays. The goal is for you to switch trays every two weeks and gradually shift your teeth. Every six weeks, you’ll visit our office. This allows us to monitor treatment and make any adjustments to your aligner schedule as necessary.
Because these trays are removable, they can be taken out while:
- Eating
- Drinking
- Brushing
- Flossing
- Getting Your Teeth Cleaned
Once treatment is complete, a patient will likely be given a retainer to maintain the smile.
Please note that these aligners are designed to straighten your teeth. If you’re looking for bruxism treatment, you’re likely a better candidate for mouth guards.
How Much Do Aligners Cost?
The cost of aligners varies according to the complexity of the case. Insurance policies generally cover aligners to the same extent that they cover traditional braces.
