Chipped or cracked teeth can diminish your self-confidence. Bonding is an excellent solution to this, allowing us to add material that helps give teeth a better appearance. Learn more about this procedure, including the factors that determine whether it’s right for you.

Why Patients Get Bonding

Bonding can help if your tooth is:

  • Cracked
  • Chipped
  • Too Short
  • Discolored

In the case of cracked or chipped teeth, we may recommend this procedure during an emergency exam. However, it’s commonly a cosmetic service designed to improve the appearance of your smile. If your teeth have been severely damaged, we may recommend crowns or implants instead.

What to Expect from Bonding

Bonding is a comfortable outpatient procedure. In many cases, you won't even need anesthesia.

Instead, we use a bonding agent to attach composite resin to your tooth. We then mold the resin to give your tooth a more natural appearance. Resin can be reshaped even after it has dried, which means we’re able to create the perfect look for you.

While bonding is one of our more affordable cosmetic dentistry services, it isn’t designed as a permanent solution. You can expect the material to last for roughly five years.

It’s also not stain-resistant, which means bonding may not be the right option for smokers, coffee drinkers, and wine drinkers.
